Wishes to come true at Triathlon

THE bi-annual Kingscliff Triathlon is giving participants even more reason to feel good about having a "tri", with fundraising going to Make-A-Wish Australia.

A percentage from every entry, as well as individual participants generously donating and on-site activities, will all help grant the wishes of children and young people with life-threatening medical conditions.

Make-A-Wish has been operating for more than 25 years in Australia, and during that time has granted close to 7000 wishes to Australian children.

Kingscliff Triathlon organiser Kristina Katsanevasa, from QSMSports, says the popular event is delighted to have Make-A-Wish Australia on board.

"We are so excited to have Make-A-Wish Australia as part of the February 2012 Kingscliff Triathlon," Katsanevasa said.

"If our participants didn't feel great enough for crossing the finish line, now they can feel even better for helping such a great charity."

This is the first time QSMSports has included the national charity in the event and it is excited to be giving even more back to the community as the event grows in reputation and size.

"The more participants we get into the Kingscliff Triathlon the greater the contribution for Make-A-Wish Australia," Katsanevasa said.

"Don't worry if you haven't done it before. Get two others together and you can enter as a team, or if you prefer do our Tempta event, which is the entry point for triathlons."

Teneale Cameron, community fundraising and events coordinator at Make-A-Wish, says she is delighted to be working with the passionate and dedicated team of people from QSMSports to encourage events such as this in promoting health and awareness in the community.

"The funds raised through this event will go to granting the cherished wishes of children with a life-threatening medical condition, leaving a lasting and positive impact on their health and wellbeing," Cameron said.

The Kingscliff Triathlon is held on February 18-19.

Entries are open for all the triathlon divisions, including Olympic, Teams, Tempta, Big Kids and Juniors.
