Work is spellbinding for this Cooly family of magicians

WITH just three magic shops left in Australia - according to Magic Magazine - Coolangatta's Mad on Magic is a rare place of illusions, tricks and wizardry.

Owners the Sainty family have been involved in selling magic since 2007, starting in Corporation Circuit in Tweed Heads South, later moving to Industry Dr before eventually relocating the business to its current shop in Coolangatta.

Noel Sainty said a large portion of the business was conducted online these days, with the company using a "wish list" system that customers enjoyed using.

"Customers will pick out what they want, add it to their wish list and then email us and say 'can you get my wish list ready'," he said.

Noel said having their shop online also led to orders from all over the world.

"We got orders from Alaska, Canada, Texas in the USA,and Thailand, and we were going, 'Where is this coming from?' They just find you."

Mr Sainty said Bicycle playing cards were having a big influence on overseas sales because a lot of the decks were limited editions.

"With only a few hundred decks being made, when America sell out people are able to find us and purchase from our website."

Mad on Magic sells everything from magician's props, stage magic equipment and illusions to fun novelties, gags and fancy dress costumes.
