Mackay woman bound with zip ties, injected with a substance

UPDATE:

MATTHEW James Lester has been remanded in custody for the alleged torture and robbery of a 40-year-old woman in South Mackay yesterday morning.

A 22-year-old woman, Laana Shanae Hall was granted bail in Mackay Magistrates Court today and a 30-year-old woman Kylie Ann Graham is expected to face court later today.

The alleged victim attended the South Mackay home of married couple Lester and Graham to discuss money she owed them for drugs, the court heard.

Police alleged the woman was assaulted upon entering the residence, her hands were bound with zip ties and she was injected with a substance that made her drowsy before being placed into the boot of her car and taken to her home.

It is alleged two televisions and a laptop were stolen.

The 40-year-old woman managed to escape the boot of the car, running into a nearby cane field where she located a house and police were called.

 

EARLIER:

POLICE have charged two women and a man following an incident that occurred in South Mackay following at altercation.

Shortly before 1am yesterday, a 40-year-old woman became involved in an altercation with a group at an address in South Mackay.

Police allege the woman was then assaulted, restrained and placed in a car and driven to an address in Andergrove.

Police will further allege that a number of items were taken from the address and the car was driven to Balnagowan where the woman was able to flee and contact police.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with two counts of robbery in company and one count each of torture, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 22-year-old and a 30-year-old woman, both from Mackay, have both been charged with two counts of robbery in company and one count each of torture, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

They are all due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today.
