Woman drowns in Coast backyard pool tragedy

UPDATE: A woman has drowned in a backyard pool tragedy on the Coast.

Police are at the scene of the incident at Gibson Street in Tewantin.

A police spokesman said the 68-year-old Tewantin woman had drowned in a backyard pool.

"We will prepare a report for the coroner," the spokesman said.

EARLIER: A woman is in a critical condition as paramedics try to revive her at a Coast home.

Crews were called to a home in Tewantin about 1.50pm Tuesday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman had been involved in an "immersion incident" but could not say whether or not it had happened in a backyard pool.
