Woman run down on Tweed pedestrian crossing

A WOMAN was hit by a car while using a pedestrian crossing outside Centro Tweed shopping centre at 7am.

Tweed Byron LAC Inspector Jason Dowds said the 60-year-old was transported to Tweed Hospital for treatment. Her condition is not known at this stage.

Police have interviewed the driver and will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The driver was not intoxicated.
