Woman takes to her broomstick after being locked out
A YEPPOON woman chose to smash up her former partner's house with a broom rather than leave after she turned up uninvited to a drinking session.
Linley Susan Satherley, 49, was asked to leave the house but returned claiming she had left her wallet and keys behind.
When her former partner wouldn't let her back in, she picked up a broom and struck the fly screens multiple times before smashing the window pane.
Her excuse was she didn't like the complainant.
Police were called to the house but Satherley resisted their attempts to get her into the police car and instead ran away.
When they finally got her to the watch house, she again resisted attempts to place her into the cell.
Yeppoon Magistrates Court was told she had a history of obstructing police and non-compliance with a probation order.
She pleaded guilty to wilful damage and two charges of obstructing police.
Magistrate Cameron Press fined her $1300 and told her she was close to a jail term.
