Woman killed, three hurt as car rolls at Naughtons Gap
A WOMAN has died and three people have been taken to hospital after a single vehicle rollover at Naughtons Gap overnight.
Richmond Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Bill McKenna said emergency services were called to Naughtons Gap Rd at 1.30 am following reports of a motor vehicle collision.
"The vehicle has collided with a railing on a rail bridge which has caused the vehicle to roll over," he said.
"As a result of that collision a 22-year-old female received fatal injuries."
"The 19-year-old male driver was arrested by police and taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing."
Insp McKenna said the driver is assisting police with their enquiries.
He said the deceased woman was from Coraki.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics assessed five patients at the scene.
"Three men were taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries."
Insp McKenna said Richmond Valley Council engineers were expected at the scene shortly to check for any structural damage to the rail bridge.
"Naughtons Gap Rd is still closed while officers from the North Coast Crash Investigation unit examine the scene."
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
