A YOUNG couple escaped serious injury on the M1 freeway south of Sexton Hill this afternoon when their black Ford Falcon XR6 lost control and hit the centre barrier.

The male P plate driver was shaken and his female passenger sustained minor cuts at about 3.30pm when the sedan overturned and landed on its side across the right lane.
