Young performers take centre stage

THE second day of the Murwillumbah Festival of Performing Arts got off to a quiet start with the six-years-and-under mime division.

The spoken word re-entered the Murwillumbah Civic Centre with verse speaking, character recital and poems in pairs. The 14-year-old competitors had their chance to shine last night when they performed prepared prose reading, drama and sight-reading sections. The last performers of the evening brought the words of the bard to life on the stage when Georgina Meeves, Elke Gill and Zac Revere performed a selection of Shakespeare.
