Ziebell shines with ball for Bollinton's first win

CRICKET: Australian import Caleb Ziebell has shined for his English club, helping them secure their first win of the season.

Bollington defeated top of the table Brooklands in Division One of the Cheshire County Cricket League.

In tough batting conditions, Bollington won the toss and sent Brooklands into bat.

Ziebell, the reigning LJ Hooker League player of the year, along with fellow opening bowler Tom Horsfield ripped through the top order, taking seven wickets between them.

The home side were reduced to six down for just 18, with Ziebell taking four wickets.

A late flurry of runs from Brooklands tail-end batsman Chris Hart brought the batting side to 63 before being dismissed in the 35th over.

Bollington did not make the run chase easy on themselves, with just two batsman, Richard Hough and Horsfield, cracking double digits.

But the Bollington side was able to guide themselves to a three-wicket victory with plenty of overs to spare.

The win leaves Bollington ninth on the table, on 45 points.

After four rounds, Urmston Cricket Club lead the competition with 71 points.
